Cornbread loves to play fetch with people. He would let them toss the ball and he would be happy to fetch it. But recently, there was someone who didn’t want to play with him no matter how much Cornbread tried to convince him.

Is he numb or his heart made of stone? Cornbread is not sure.

The playful pup has always been obsessed with tennis balls. “I have to keep the balls away from him in the house or else he’ll obsess over them,” said his mom Carly Gill. “He has to have designated ‘ball time,’ and then the balls are put away.”

Carly  first taught Cornbread how to play fetch and when he started getting the hang of it, he didn’t wanna stop! He would always want to play and bring the ball to his mom or to anyone around.

A few weeks ago, Carly went to a friend’s house for a cookout and tagged Cornbread along. As usual, Cornbread was never fascinated with swimming in the doggy pool, playing with the sprinklers and other dogs, instead he is trying to get as many people as he can to play fetch with him.

But when nobody wanted to play with him anymore, he approached a gray man he spotted alone in the garden. He brought him the ball hoping that the man would play with him.

“He kept bringing the ball to us to throw, but we got busy and weren’t playing with him,” Carly said. “Next thing we knew, he was dropping the ball at the Statue of David and barking at him!”

Cornbread did his best to make the person play with him but to no avail — he wouldn’t even move!

“He would drop it on his feet, back up and bark a few times like, ‘Hey man, come on throw the ball!’” Carly said. “He didn’t understand why David wasn’t playing with him.”

Cornbread must be really sad and disappointed because of the statue’s cold treatment of him. Fortunately, his mom went over and threw the ball for him once again.

“He’s a great companion and is loved by everyone,” Carly said. “He’s brought joy, love, fun and a little bit of chaos into my life! He is the life of the party wherever he goes.”
