Barley, an Australian Cattle Dog mix, has found a smart way of getting out of exercise, and millions of viewers can relate!

In a video shared by Barley’s mom, Alejandra, we can see a stroller being pushed along a road as a toddler’s legs dangle out of the stroller seat.

The camera then pans out to reveal that it is actually a two-seater stroller, and a very pleased Barley is on the other seat! The video’s text overlay read, “Our old dog is fat and can’t take very long walks anymore or his legs give out.”

It turns out that walking the rest of the way was already too much for Barley.

Alejandra can’t help but find the stroller scene hilarious. We can hear her laughing while she was filming the video, which was captioned, “This will forever make me laugh now!”

The video, which was posted on January 8, has since been viewed over 20 million times. Commenters praised Barley for cleverly getting out of walking the rest of the way.

One comment read, “He’s like, well I don’t see why the tiny human should be the only one sitting in comfort on walks.” Another joked, “Aww he’s so happy to be moving at speed again.”

Older dogs are more prone to obesity due to their unwillingness to exercise and low energy.

Veterinarian Kelly Diehl from the Morris Animal Foundation said that the best way to avoid obesity is to avoid letting your dog gain extra pounds in the first place. A good way to do this is through portion control, regular weigh-ins, and establishing a fun physical activity together.

But don’t worry, Barley gets taken to regular visits to the vet and “as many walks as he can handle,” Alejandra shared.

In a follow-up video, Alejandra showed that Barley can actually walk, although with slight limping. The video caption read, “Barley is just living out his golden years to the fullest.”

“He is not only about to be 10 years old, he is fat and he knows it,” she explained. “He’s my old man, and he’s got really bad arthritis. And if he needs to sit in a stroller, then so be it.”

We can be sure that Barley will remain as “spoiled” as he can possibly be. He deserves it, after all, and his mom definitely loves him.
