Luna has followed her mom everywhere ever since she joined her family. Being so close to her mom, Samantha Smith, she instantly knew when her mom became pregnant. She even started making a clothes nest!
The loving cat upped her attentiveness to help prepare for the new baby.
When Samantha was about five months pregnant, Luna started a new habit. Around 3:30 a.m. every night, she would drag around some clothes while meowing loudly the whole time! Samantha would wake up to a pile of clothes — a clothes “nest” that Luna prepared for the baby.
Samantha shared, “It started as here and there, but the closer I got to my due date, it was every single night. I would get up and give her cuddles and kisses … and tell her I appreciated her nest!”
Perhaps making nests was the best way Luna knew to prepare for the baby. She just wanted to help.
Why would she do all this at 3:30 a.m., though?
It turns out that Samantha ended up giving birth at 3:18 a.m.! That’s an incredible coincidence — perhaps Luna knew somehow.
Luna waited patiently for months and finally got to meet her new baby brother. She wasn’t so impressed with the human baby, though. Was she expecting a kitten?
Samantha shared, “She was not happy at all [that] this was the final result, but she is definitely warming up to little bucko.”
