  • A town in Brazil set up a nativity scene to celebrate the upcoming holiday.
  • One day, a local noticed that the manger, which is traditionally left empty before Christmas day, was unexpectedly claimed by another occupant.
  • The puppy who sought refuge in the manger has since been spotted by another animal lover who took her home.

Many homes and towns have made it a tradition to set up a nativity scene display as part of the Christmas celebrations. Prior to Christmas day, the manger is left empty. But in one town in Brazil, a local found an unexpected occupant in the display’s manger.

Surrounded by the usual figures was a puppy sleeping peacefully in the nativity scene’s centerpiece.

Nádia Rosângella recalled, “I was surprised. It was so beautiful! Such a lovely and pure scene.”

The puppy’s origins are still unknown, but Nádia believes she was recently abandoned near the square.

The cozy-looking nativity scene may have caught her eye. And when she saw the comfy manger unoccupied, she claimed it as her napping spot.

Nádia was so touched by the scene that she decided to help the puppy find a new home. Since she can’t adopt the puppy herself, she took a few photos and shared them with fellow animal lovers.

It wasn’t long before someone interested in her showed up.

Nádia said that a friend spotted the puppy and decided to take her home.

The puppy sought refuge in a scene that may have reminded her of a family and a home. And in so doing, she got herself a second chance to finding a loving family and a warm home.
