- She would then look for a ball to give Lady, perhaps as an invitation to play fetch.
About a year ago, Lady and her family moved to a new neighborhood. The sweet pup loved playing around with other dogs, so when she found out that they had neighbor dogs, she was so excited — and the neighbors were, too! A game of fetch was in order.
Her new neighbor, Nikko, was so happy to have a new friend in the neighborhood. So she showed her appreciation by dropping by a little gift.
Every time Nikko and her brother, Mac, pass by Lady’s house, the dogs would greet each other through the fence.
Nikko would then look for a ball to give Lady, perhaps as a way to ask for a game of fetch.
Lady’s mom, Erika Ekman, said that Lady wanted to keep all the balls if she could. If she wouldn’t play fetch, they would have to take the ball from Lady and give it back, worried that their neighbors may run out of balls.
The adorable exchange has since been their routine every time one of them passes by the other’s house.
Lady is always so excited whenever it’s time for her walk.
Erika shared, “She drags us to their house every day [and] gets up on the fence to see if either of them are out.”
While the dogs can only see and greet each other through a fence most of the time, they have since met each other without a barrier.
Their families have arranged some playdates for them to get to know each other and play together. And everyone always has such a blast whenever they meet!
The canine neighbors’ friendship started with a ball and a game of fetch. Now, it’s blossomed into a beautiful friendship.
