WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

Brock Cvijanovich recently bought his first apartment building in upstate New York, and although he was outbid by someone willing to pay $100,000 more, he agreed to a unique condition to take $50,000 off the list price – he had to take care of 93-year-old resident Alice Schuman.

For over 60 years, Alice had lived in the building and had never had her rent raised by the previous owner, who had also been escorting her to the bank, the doctor, and the grocery store. Cvijanovich continued to charge Alice only $200 for rent and visited her every day, even bringing her food and flowers.

When Alice was deemed unfit to care for herself and was going to be put in the state’s care, Cvijanovich got a lawyer and became her legal guardian. He kept her apartment empty for nearly a year while she was in the hospital, hoping she would be able to return home, but unfortunately, she passed away from pneumonia in January.
