DaVante Williams had picked up a passenger who was trying to get home to Williamsburg, Virginia, but they were stuck for nearly 6 hours on the I-95 near Washington, D.C., about 150 miles away.

The teenage girl had said that she had planned to take a train, but it was canceled due to a derailment. She turned to Uber, but then they ended up becoming stranded.

All these predicaments seemed to be taking a toll on the young girl, who was visibly emotional and overwhelmed as she talked to her parents over the phone.

Davante recalled, “She would call her mother or call her father here and there to communicate what was going on. She was overwhelmed, and I totally understood because all she wanted to do was get home.”

He also made sure to talk to the girl’s parents to assure them that he would take care of their daughter.

It was already around 7:30 a.m. the next morning when he found a way to exit the insterstate. They were already both exhausted, so Davante decided to book a hotel room for the teen so she can get some rest and consider alternative travel plans.

The kind driver even offered to drive her free of charge once the roads were clear. Eventually, she was picked up by a family friend and managed to get home safely.

Davante was later thanked by an Uber representative who offered to reimburse him for the hotel room. The company also praised his actions on Twitter, writing, “Not all heroes wear capes ❤️ thank you, Davante!”

He was also offered a managing job by Ride Alto, an “upscale ride-sourcing service” that operates in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, and D.C.
