Ashley Ann Jones embraced the spirit of giving this holiday season when she paid for about $28,000 worth of groceries for strangers at two Kroger grocery stores in Arkansas.

Jones, who owns a social media strategy firm, wanted to help out after seeing long lines at food banks.

She told local news station KARK-TV, “I was like, I’m going to buy groceries. Story after story about people getting laid off or furloughed or just lost their company.”

Joseph Mayo, the manager at one of the stores, told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette how Jones’ act of kindness was “a great Christmas gift.”

He shared, “They’d come up and we’d say your groceries are paid for and they’d be like ‘Are you serious? Really?'” They were overwhelmed with gratitude as they “never had anything like that happen to them before.”

Jones shared that she regularly tries to give back to her community. This year, she gave away $35,000 to her social media followers in need of financial support.

She told KARK-TV, “Do what you can where you are.”

Jones also shared how she was disappointed that she could not continue her regular holiday celebrations this year, such as throwing a Christmas party for her friends and family.

She told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “It is a bummer that you can’t do your regular traditions, but at the same time [I] think of how blessed we are; none of us passed away, we all still have employment, we all still have a roof over our heads.”

“It’s inconvenient, but we can have our Christmas party in July if we want to,” she added hopefully.

Share this story to give others hope and inspire them to give back to the community whenever they can.
